Red Barbecue Sauce

In 3 Tbsp hot butter, oleo or oil, saute 1/3 cup minced onion till tender, not brown.

Add:

  • 1 cup catsup
  • 2 tsp prepared mustard
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup vinegar – or fresh, frozen or canned lemon juice

Simmer, covered, about 10 minutes. Serve hot on franks, hamburgers broiled chicken, pork chops, broiled or fried fish, etc.

Makes 2 cups
