Season the water in which Shrimp, Crab, or any Seafood are to be boiled, highly with salt, black and red pepper. This brings out the excellent flavor. Bring seasoned water to boil in a large heavy post. Add Seafood and bring to a boil again, cooking rapidly for 5 minutes in uncovered pot.
Be sure to have enough water to cover seafood with 4″ of liquid.
Turn off heat. Cover pot and let seafood set in water 5 minutes. They are then ready to be drained, peeled and cleaned.
