Date Nut Drops

  • 2 cups chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Combine in saucepan and cook, stirring occasionally until mixture is the consistency of very thick jam. Cool. Set aside.

Cream:

  • 1 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Gradually beat until light and fluffy. Beat in:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Sift  together and add:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Blend together thoroughly. Stir in:

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts
  • Date mixture which was set aside.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet. Bake in a moderate over (375°) for 12 -15 minutes.

Makes 12 dozen. A very good cookie to freeze.
