Raisin Cake

1 cup raisins, simmered for 10 minutes in 2 cups water.

Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup shortening and stir till melted.

Cool. Combine the following and add:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp each – soda, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg

Put in greased loaf pan and bake at 350° for 35 – 40 minutes.
