Grandmother’s Prune Cake

Cream:

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup (1/2 lb) butter

Add 3 eggs, beating well.

Sift together:

  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 3 cups flour

Add alternately with:

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup cooked prunes, mashed and seeded

Bake in tube pan at 325° – 350°
