Jam Cake

Cream:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar

Add:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp baking soda dissolved
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups blackberry and apple jam, half and half
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup raisins, steamed
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix in order given. Bake in moderate oven, 350° till done.

DATE-NUT FILLING

  • 1 small box dates, cut in pieces
  • 2/3 cup hot water
  • 2/3 stick oleo

Cooking till dates are soft.

Add:

  • 1 box powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Beat till all are mixed well. Spread on cake.
