Quick Buttermilk Rolls

  • 1 package dry yeast dissolved in
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water

Stir in

  • 3/4 cup lukewarm buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups flour

Then add another 1 1/4 cups flour (2 1/2 cups in all). Mix with hands. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead till smooth. Shape into desired shape or cut. Let rise about 1 1/2 hours. Heat oven to 400° and bake 15-20 minutes till golden brown.

Makes 1 1/2 dozen
