Ice Box Rolls

  • 2 cups milk brought to a boil and add
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening or more
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp salt and stir till shortening is mixed

Pour into bowl and let cool. Dissolve 1 package dry yeast in 1/2 cup warm water or milk and add to the cooled milk mixture and let cool again. When cool, add – 4 cups flour, stir till well mixed and let rise 2 hours or till doubles.

Then add 1/4 tsp baking powder, enough flour to knead. Either let rise 1-2 hours before baking at 400° or roll out, cut and place in greased pan and refrigerate at once, removing from refrigerator and let rise before baking.
