Snicker Doodles

  • 1 cup shortening (part butter)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Then roll balls in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown but still soft.

Temperature: 400°, bake 8 to 10 minutes.

Yields 5 dozen 2 inch cookies.
