Bread Puddin’

  • 6 slices bread, buttered
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 8 oz soft cream cheese

Cut bread in 1-inch squares; place in lightly greased 1 3/4 x 7 1/2 x 1 3/4 inch dish. Slightly beat 3 eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Heat milk slowly, add to egg mixture, pour over bread and sprinkle cinnamon. Combine cheese and 1/2 cup sugar and blend well. Add 1 egg. Spread over bread. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until firm.
