Monkey Bread

  • 1 envelope yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 cups flour

Dissolve 1 package yeast in 1/4 cup water plus 1 teaspoon sugar. Let rise. Beat egg; add 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup oil, salt. Add yeast mixture and 1 cup water. Add flour until dough is stiff. Knead and let stand 1 hour. Put in greased bowl and refrigerate overnight. Roll out and cut in strips. Roll strips in oleo and layer in Bundt pan. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 400° until brown.
