Indian Fry Bread

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup dry milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp shortening
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Blend well and knead slightly. Divide into 8 balls; cover and let rise 10 minutes. Roll each ball into 6 inch circle. Make hole in center with finger. Fry one at a time in deep fat at 400°.  Drain on paper towels. Serve warm or cold.
